Fashion Police has been put on the shelf by E! until September, the network announced, noting that it hopes to revive it before the next awards season.
The move was a no brainer for the network, which has seen Fashion Police become a hotbed of controversy ever since the 2015 Academy Awards.
What was once a popular fixture of E!'s lineup turned into a lightning rod following Giuliana Rancic's comments about Zendaya on the red carpet.
Rancic has kept her job, but even that appeared to be in the balance for a time, while two of her co-stars abruptly bailed in the wake of the uproar.
First, Kelly Osbourne quit Fashion Police, not quite throwing Giuliana under the bus but clearly trying to distance herself from the Zendaya incident.
Then Kathy Griffin quit Fashion Police and was even more blunt in her harsh assessment about the unfunny show bullying people for no reason.
Griffin enjoyed an outpouring of support following her departure and comments about the program, which clearly did not go unnoticed by the E! brass.
Plans to return with new episode on March 31 have been scrapped, with execs announcing that the current plan is for the show to return in September.
"We look forward to taking this opportunity to refresh the show before the next awards season," E! said in a statement, noting that it's NOT canceled.
"Our talented co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski, along with executive producer Melissa Rivers, will continue their roles as we evolve the show."
The decision to delay the show's return before "its next chapter for the legions of Fashion Police fans around the world" does not come as a surprise.
At least to us. The show was too popular for E! to simply pull the plug on it, as there's still a chance this firestorm will eventually blow over. But it might not.
The mini-exodus and lack of solidarity among the co-stars is no small matter, nor is the loss of Joan Rivers, who could do no wrong in the eyes of many.
Without the linchpin, a show devoted to bullying celebrities' looks seems destined for demise, though who knows what the retooled version will look like.
Kim Kardashian's doesn't lie about the fact that makeup MAKES her who she is. She's shared more than one tutorial about how to get her signature look using highlighting products to contour her face.
Housewife turned author turned talk show host Bethenny Frankel uses makeup to shave years off her face. Hey, it's probably better than botox and plastic surgery.
Is it just us or is it ridiculously hard to believe that the face on the left and the face on the right are the same face? But yeah, that's Mila Kunis.
One thing we love about Taylor Swift, besides her dancing, is the effortless way she always looks polished, even if she's running around naked (faced).
