Unless you were exiled to a distant land after your family was defeated in Robert's Rebellion, then you're probably aware that Game of Thrones season 5 will soon be upon us.
We've received a few crumbs of information, such as the reveal that season 5 contains some "shocking deaths" (Doesn't every season?), but for the most part producers have been so tight-lipped about the plot that a session in Ramsay Bolton's Dreadfort couldn't get them to squeal.
Aside from the requisite Game of Thrones season 5 trailers, and douchey spoilers from people who are way too proud to have read the books, the return of GoT has been shrouded in secrecy, and it seems that's just how the showrunners like it.
So it was a bit of a surprise when HBO uploaded a pair of short clips with actual footage (Gasp!) from GoT season 5:
The first clip features a brief conversation between Lord Varys and Tyrion.
What it lacks in new information, it makes up for in Tyrion boozing and rocking an epic outlaw beard. Clearly, when he went on the run, he spent some time in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Damn medieval hipsters.
The next preview features a tense stand-off between Jon Snow and Mance Rayder.
Again, not much in the way of new info, but it serves as a reminder that after four seasons of ominously worsening winter is actually coming soon.
If you live in the Northeast or Midwest, that threat might hit a little too close to home after the winter you just endured/are still enduring.
But hey, better times are ahead, and GoT season 5 is just weeks away. As always, if you need to catch up, you can watch Game of Thrones online at TV Fanatic.
And don't forget, if you have any bookish friends who like to ruin surprises, you must cut all ties with them now. Their friendship is not worth a single spoiler.
Khal Drogo was another good guy we were sure would be in it for the long haul. Instead, we all learned a valuable lesson about disinfecting cuts and scrapes.
This is another one where we'd prefer not to go into detail: Theon gets his junk cut off and we hit fast forward when this scene comes up in reruns. Granted, he's not the greatest guy, but what happened to him reeks.
Not only did Oberyn get himself killed while trying to avenge his sister, he also got Tyrion sentenced to death for a crime he didn't commit! Justice is hard to come by in Westeros, yet we keep hoping for a hapopy ending.
