Kate Middleton began her life as a "commoner" only in the sense that she wasn't born into royalty.
Kate comes from a well-off family, she attended the best schools, and she spent her teen years hanging out with a seriously posh group of girls.
So the rumor that one of Kate's closest lifelong friends is essentially a high-end madam should be taken with a grain of salt... and not just because it comes from the ever-reliable Star magazine.
The tabloid claims that Kate's BFF Emma Sayles is the "founder and CEO" of the bafflingly-named Killing Kittens, a company that helps organize and find participants for lavish parties.
Think Eyes Wide Shut-style sex bonanzas.
You can't buy partners from Killing Kittens (We can't with that name.), but the company will facilitate your next orgy for a large fee.
"This yet another reason that the Queen can't stand the Middletons," says one royal insider. "The Queen thinks it's so embarrassing that Kate would associate with someone like Emma."
Yes, while Kate visits Downton Abbey, Emma makes sure your party is fully stocked with whips and flavored condoms.
They've chosen different paths in life, you could say.

Several sources have confirmed that Emma is involved with KK, but there's been no confirmation that she's the founder and CEO.
What we don't know is specifically what kind of relationship she has with the organization, much less with Middleton. But it's enough for Star to speculate.
"The Queen was furious after learning of Kate's association with such a trashy business," the source claims. "She keeps urging Kate to distance herself from Emma."
"But Kate doesn't like being told what to do."
Given the long history of bad blood between Kate and the Queen, we're not surprised they're butting heads over this issue. We're also not surprised that Kate won't budge.
Sure, the Queen is the Queen, but trying to tell an eight-months pregnant duchess what to do is a good way to get brutally thrashed with a stylish pill box hat.
