Actually, correct: Can someone please pass us ALL the tissues?
On Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Episode 21 last night, Shonda Rhimes really did go there. She really did go ahead and kill of Derek Shepherd, having been given little choice after Patrick Dempsey made it clear he wanted to leave the series.
Still, fans were left with two reactions to Derek getting slammed by an 18-wheeler:
- NOOOO!!!!!!
- WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Grey's Anatomy fans are certainly used to tragedy (rest in peace, Mark; we still miss you, George), but this felt different.
This was McDreamy. This was one half of television's most beloved couple over the past decade (seriously, who else even comes close?).
And now, just like that... he's gone?!?
It will take a long time for viewers to come to grips with this death, especially now that ABC has released a moving tribute to the talented (and handsome!) brain surgeon.
As we await Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Episode 22 and as we wonder how Meredith will possibly move on, we encourage readers to take a few moments and look back at the better times.
We'll miss you, McDreamy. But at least we'll always be able to watch Grey's Anatomy online in order to see you smile.
