Even though Avengers: Age of Ultron is easily the most highly-anticipated film of 2015 and a guaranteed box office smash, Marvel still decided to send the film's A-list cast out on a blitzkrieg promotional tour in the vinal datys before the fim's release.
That may not have been such a great idea.
Yesterday, Robert Downey, Jr. stormed out of an interview after a reporter asked a series of uncomfortable questions about his past.
Today, Jeremy Renner and Chris Evans went full douche-bro while talking to a female journalist, and some fans are less than pleased:
Asked about Scarlett Johansson's character and her romantic involvement with Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, Renner responded, "She's a slut."
Evans made matters worse by erupting in hysterical laughter before adding, "I was gonna say something along those lines. A complete whore."
They went on to joke about how Black Widow will "only be a sidekick" in future Marvel films.
Yikes. Clearly these two were kidding, and after making two films with Johansson, they probably know what kind of inside jokes she would feel comfortable with, but as many critics have pointed out, they're promoting a PG-13, family-friendly flick, and a lot of kids watch these interviews.
Perhaps for future promotions, the Avengers crew oughta play it safe and stick to playing Family Feud with Jimmy Kimmel.
