Get ready for massive amounts of swooning, because a TV version of the epic novel turned movie The Notebook is in the works at The CW.
The network is developing a series based on Nicholas Sparks' bestselling 1996 novel and the 2004 film that became a surprisingly huge hit.
Starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, it was the cult classic that spawned ... Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams dating in real life!
And millions of people talking about how they should be together for ever, and generally quoting/loving/worshipping their characters' story.
The official synopsis for the TV version: "This series will follow the romantic journey of the two beloved central characters Noah and Allie."
It will take place, the network says, at "the outset of their blossoming relationship as they build their lives and their future together."
"Against the backdrop of the racial politics, economic inequities, and social mores of post-World War II in late 1940s in North Carolina."
If it gets the green light, The Notebook would become The CW's second period drama after Reign. And a departure from the norm.
The network's bread and butter has long been its action-filled genre shows or contemporary rom-coms aimed at younger audiences.
Sparks will serve as an executive producer on the project along with Theresa Park, so it should stay pretty true to the source material.
