Ever since Josh Duggar was busted on the Ashley Madison list, all eyes have been focused on the former reality television star.
And as the world has been criticizing Josh, the question remains: what about his wife Anna?
An Ashburn, Virginia, woman's Facebook post about Anna Duggar is asking just that. What does the future look like for Anna?
Sadly, her future doesn't look good.
"Let's talk about Anna," Jessica Kirkland wrote. "Let me tell you: Anna Duggar is in the worst position she could possibly be in right now."
Kirkland's post seems harsh, but she is right. The Duggars identify as Quiverfulls, a fundamentalist sect of Christianity.
The Quiverfull movement refuses to allow contraceptive practices, refusing women to have choice of their own bodies.
Moreover, they have deeply troubling ideas of gender and women's roles in both in the public and private spheres. For instance, Quiverfull women receive no formal education or job training because they are expected to become only wives and mothers.
As Kirkland explains, "Anna Duggar was crippled by her parents by receiving no education, having no work experience (or life experience, for that matter) and then was shackled to this loser because his family was famous in their religious circle."
"Anna Duggar was taught that her sole purpose in life, the most meaningful thing she could do, was to be chaste and proper, a devout wife, and a mother," Kirkland adds.
"Anna Duggar did that! Anna Duggar followed the rules that were imposed on her from the get-go and this is what she got in reward – a husband who she found out, in the span of 6 months, not only molested his own sisters, but was unfaithful to her in the most humiliating way possible," Kirkland articulates.
For Quiverfull women, divorce is not an option.
So if their husbands admit to molesting children, cheating via Ashley Madison, and having a porn addiction—as Josh Duggar did—Quiverfull women are expected to forgive and forget.
In fact, those close to the Duggars have already said that Anna won't divorce Josh.
Kirkland concludes, "While she was fulfilling her 'duty' of providing him with four children and raising them. She lived up to the standard that men set for her of being chaste and Godly and in return, the man who demanded this of her sought women who were the opposite. 'Be this,' they told her. She was. It wasn't enough."
Though the Duggars' show, 19 Kids and Counting, was highly popular, it appears that many fans are now questioning the family's values.
KIrkland's Facebook post was shared over 230,000 times. And it received nearly 430,000 likes.
