After one week on the market, Kanye West's new album sits atop the Billboard 100, although there is a catch to the good news: "Yeezus" also marks the weakest debut of the star's career.
The album sold 327,000 copies in its opening seven days, a figure far behind "The College Dropout" in 2004, which moved 441,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Of course, there is Kanye's unusual marketing strategy to consider. Or lack thereof, really.
He didn't release a single for the radio. He didn't make a new music video. He referred to himself as a mixture of Michael Jordan and Jimi Hendrix in a couple strange interviews.
And yet "Yeezus" has become the best rap album debut since Drake's 2011 album "Take Care" sold 631,000 in its first week.
