Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake decided to "hashtag" an entire conversation on Late Night this week, showing viewers just how ridiculous hashtags are.
Implemented for an actual purpose by Twitter, the hashtag has evolved and taken over pretty much the entire social networking world at this point.
That's not necessarily a good thing. If you read someone's update with a hashtag out loud, the concept seems absurd, as Jimmy and Justin illustrate:
Throughout their chat, not only are hashtags thrown in at the end of each sentence, but they also make the hashtag sign with their fingers. Every time.
Sadly, this is not unlike online conversatons people actually have. #allthetime.
