Ian Watkins, the lead singer of a British rock band called The Lostprophets, pleaded guilty in Cardiff Crown Court yesterday to a multitude of heinous sex charges.
According to the BBC, Watkins admitted to "three counts of sexual assault involving children and six involving taking, making or possessing indecent images of children and one of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a sex act on an animal."
The 36-year old had previously denied involvement in these unimaginable crimes.
Peter Doyle of the South Wales Police said the unit's investigation "uncovered the most shocking and harrowing child abuse I have ever seen."
They include the attempted rape of an 11-month old baby of one fan and conspiracy to rape the baby daughter of another fan.
"Ian Watkins was the lead singer of a successful band, The Lostprophets," prosecutor Christopher Clee said after the plea was entered.
"He also, by virtue of his plea, accepts he is a determined and committed pedophile. He has engaged in serious sexual offenses against two babies belonging to the female defendants in this case. Not only has he done so, but he recorded and kept episodes of this abuse which were recovered by the police."
Indeed, the most damning evidence against Watkins includes videos of abuse the police found on his computer.
The musician and two co-defendants, who also pleaded guilty, face a total of 32 charges and will be sentenced on December 18.
