The feud between Sinead O'Connor and Miley Cyrus appears to be over.
Following days' worth of back and forth last month, including four letters sent by the Irish singer to the American artist, how is O'Connor feelings these days about the controversial 20-year old?
Grateful, she said in a new interview.
"I think what was more important really that came out of the Miley thing was this issue of being able to conversate about how mental health and human rights is now," O'Connor said.
The Sinead-Miley beef started when O'Connor criticized the music industry and told Miley not to act as its prostitute.
Cyrus responded by publicly calling out her rival's history of mental illness, a reference that understandably stuck a very personal and very anger-filled chord with O'Connor.
But instead of holding a bitter grudge, the long-time singer is trying to look at the feud in a positive light. Even a beneficial one.
"I think she was actually very helpful," O'Connor said of Miley's insult. "I think the two of us, without meaning to, did quite a good job in terms of creating conversation about something really, really important."
In January 2012, O'Connor Tweeted a number of disturbing messages, saying she was in "serious danger" and asking if any followers knew of an emergency psychiatrist.
She appears now to have at least improved tremendously since then and she's right: if her exchanges with Miley opened up a few eyes toward
