Former NFL star and broadcaster Todd Christensen died on Wednesday morning during surgery at a Utah hospital. He had been battling liver disease.
Christensen, who was 57, starred at BYU from 1974-77 before embarking on a standout NFL career as a tight end, primarily for the Oakland Raiders.
Drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the 1978 NFL Draft, his career took off in 1982 with the Raiders. His 349 catches from 1983-86 set at NFL record.
Todd Christensen went on to forge his post-football career as an NFL analyst for NBC, and later for MountainWest Sports Network until 2012.
