Despite being immersed in renovating their 10-bedroom country house, Anmer Hall, Prince William and Kate Middleton still made time for a date night.
The royal pair - in faded blue jeans and sneakers (William) and skinny jeans and a sweater (Kate) were seen at the King's Head Hotel in Great Bircham.
Towards the end of their two-hour meal, the affable first-time visitors to the pub chatted happily with some locals who approached them at their table.
The King's Head wouldn't comment on the visit and as a rule, aside from the occasional well wishes, nearby residents tend to keep their distance.
"We see the royals around, but you don't acknowledge them, as it were. We just leave them, so they can be like everyone else," one local remarked.
"The royal family's been coming here for I don't know how many years, and I like the fact that they can come and just 'be' and do their own thing."
"It's just how we are in Norfolk ... we leave people alone."
That is rumored to be a reason for the couple's move to the countryside and away from London, which has sparked Kate's alleged war with the Queen.
War with Kate Middleton or no war, Queen Elizabeth, and before her, King George VI, has longstanding links with the area through the Sandringham estate.
The 88-year-old monarch gifted Anmer Hall - about two miles from the main Sandringham House - to William and Kate a little more than a year ago.
"They want to live [in Anmer Hall] as much as possible," a source close to the duo says, and we don't doubt that's true, if they can lead a normal life.
The notion that this may have sparked a beef with the Queen is dubious, however. She and William have always been tight, and she did give them the place.
Just saying.
