In recent weeks, Iggy Azalea has been on the receiving end of near-constant criticism, much of it race-based.
Azealia Banks called Iggy "Satan in the form of mayonnaise."
Iggy's been lectured by Q-Tip, and other famous rappers have urged her to acknowledge the debt she owes to black musicians, rather than continuing to blindly appropriate African-American culture.
For the most part, Iggy has kept quiet on the matter, which most hip hop fans agree was not the right move.
Now, she's speaking out, but still refusing to accept the fact that her music could be seen as racially problematic.
"Well, they don't say stuff about Macklemore," Iggy said in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. "So yes, I think it has 100,000 percent to do with the fact that I have a [vagina]."
"I never thought it was strange. If you go back to the Rolling Stones and Elvis Presley and Eminem - they've all basically done black music. I felt this wasn't far from what we've seen in music history over and over again."
Iggy's critics are likely to point out that Macklemore has been widely criticized, despite the fact that he's been much more sensitive about questions of cultural appropriation throughout his career.
It's also worth noting that Macklemore doesn't rap with a phony accent, and comparing yourself to Elvis (the godfather of problematic pop music) is not the best way to deflect criticism.
Although, she's not entirely wrong about being treated differently as a result of her gender.
In the same interview, the question of Iggy's sex tape comes up. Now that has everything to do with her being a woman. She says no such footage exists, by the way.
She took the name "Iggy Azalea" from her childhood dog and the street she grew up on.
