Steve Kroft of CBS' 60 Minutes was outed by the National Enquirer after cheating on his wife Jennet Conant, and has issued a statement as a result.
Kroft said of his shockingly exposed marital infidelity:
"I had an extramarital affair that was a serious lapse of personal judgment and extremely hurtful to my wife and family, and for that I have nothing but regret."
The 69-year-old TV veteran called his indiscretion "a personal failure, not a professional one," and "had no impact whatsoever on my job as a journalist."
Kroft, a 60 Minutes mainstay since the '80s, said, "My wife and I are committed to each other and are working hard to get past this, and consider it a private matter."
Steve and Jennet Conant, 55, live in Manhattan with their son.
His affair was conducted close to home, it turns out. Kroft apparently carried on a torrid romance with stunning New York attorney Lisan Goines.
This was recent, too. Kroft and Lisan were seen at Manhattan's Essex House December 17, with one bystander commenting that "they looked like lovers."
The pair's chemistry "was electric," as a matter of fact.
"They chatted like old friends over a couple of cocktails and gazed into each other's eyes," the eyewitness dished. "They were completely smitten."
The Enquirer reportedly has Kroft's graphic text messages, and more, proving his affair. He did not address the publication's evidence specifically.
Really, everyone else on this list is just playing for second place.
