There's an independent streak that the newlyweds often show that differentiates them from the rest of her famous family, and it extends to all facets of life.
To a point, that is. Ben Seewald and Jessa Duggar are as conservative and proud of it as her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, and her siblings.
They are more outspoken about it, however, and are willing to chart their own course in small but significant ways, such as on the subject of children.
Snuggled up together on a love seat in their Springdale, Arkansas, home, Jessa and Ben Seewald say they want a bunch of them ... and to adopt them.
"We hope to adopt a lot of kids," Jessa Duggar, 22, says, and while she's not ruling out the idea of getting pregnant, she's steadfast about adoption.
"If God blesses us with biological kids of our own, it's not going to quench our desire to adopt," the new Mrs. Seewald insists. "Kids are so important."
The Seewalds are already looking into adoption and finding out the details of bringing a child home, a process they have no prior experience with.
What they do have experience with is siblings. Ben Seewald is one of seven children born to Michael and Guinn Seewald of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Jessa, obviously, is one of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's 19 kids and counting, none of whom are adopted. She's excited to go her own way here.
As for how the couple is getting used to marriage, nearly five months in? "We try not to argue," says Ben, who shares how he and Jessa work through issues.
"If we have a hard time and we talk about it, you just love each other so much more," Jessa says. "After a disagreement, I often feel, 'I have never loved you more.'"
