Wednesday night on The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 13, the CBS series' finale, a serial killer's deadly quest for payback put Jane and Lisbon's happy ending at risk.
How did it end for the couple, and the popular program?
When The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 13 got underway, we were all wondering how the final season of this underrated but solid series would play out.
With Lazarus escaping through a hatch in the basement, still alive and planning revenge against Jane, the stage was set for any number of outcomes.
Speaking of our hero, Patrick buys his cabin in the woods. He's serious about this remodeling effort, and also serious about asking Lisbon to marry him.
Lisbon says yes. It's wonderful. It's the kind of thing you watch The Mentalist online for years for, hoping it may someday come to fruition ... but will it?
Not the small ceremony the lovebirds initially had planned, which quickly develops into much more as relatives fly in, caterers are hired, and so forth.
Teresa asks Patrick if they can elope, but he has other things on his plate as well. Such as Abbott asking him if he really plans to leave the FBI for good.
On that front, Jane is showing signs of cold feet. With his wedding approaching, the team tries to keep the fact that Lazarus is on the loose on the DL.
In part one of the two-hour series finale, Jane used himself as bait to draw out the killer on The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 12. He's a man who lives dangerously.
And is it really possible to keep something from him?
That's no longer possible after Lazarus murders reporter Dan Glover and begins to gather intel on his wedding, they have to tell the soon-to-be newlyweds.
Luckily, they set a trap for the killer, and it works.
The Jane wedding venue is once again changed - to his woodsy cabin - and when Lazarus shows, an entire FBI team is waiting for him and he is arrested.
With the threat neutralized, Teresa and Patrick get married in front of friends and family. Just the way it ought to be, and the couple couldn't be happier.
Or perhaps they could. As everyone celebrates and dances into the night, Teresa tells Patrick that she's pregnant. He beams, and we fade to black.
