No, Selena Gomez is not dating Justin Bieber.
But that doesn't mean there's not a special place in the singer's heart for her ex, as Gomez explained this morning on Good Morning America when asked how handles a public break-up.
Because "he and I have had such a history together," the two will always be friends, Selena said, adding: "I'll always care about him and protect him if anybody tries to be mean."
Safe to say this interview went better than one earlier in the week when Gomez peaced out after a reporter peppered her with Bieber questions.
