Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst wants to impeach President Barack Obama over the tragedy that saw four Americans killed in Benghazi, Libya, last year.
Dewhurst called for Obama to be impeached over his handling of the deadly 2012 attack on the U.S. Consulate, as well as the national health care law.
The comments were made during a recent Tarrant County Tea Party forum and were first reported on by Twitter by a reporter for the Texas Observer.
The account was later confirmed by the Texas Tribune, which said that Dewhurst, a former CIA officer, feels "very strongly about the tragedy in Benghazi."
"Congress should consider impeaching the president over the tragedy," Dewhurst said.
He also feels Obama "should be held accountable" for the "failure to secure the border and the gross overreach of the federal government under Obamacare."
Even Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who bested Dewhurst in a primary election last year on the way to winning his Senate seat, wouldn't go that far.
Cruz conceded this summer there aren't enough votes in the U.S. Senate to impeach Obama, so it was a waste of time to even discuss the topic.
