She brought tears to the eyes of Jennifer Lopez and the crowd to its feet on American Idol last night.
But when all was said and done, MK Nobilette was eliminated from the Fox competition.
The first openly gay contestant in show history, Nobilette told reporters after the news was announced that she sort of saw it coming.
"The whole night kind of sucked," Nobilette said, adding of her Wednesday performance. "I definitely did the worst out of everybody because I fumbled so hard. "
Still, there are plenty of reasons for this aspiring artist to be proud.
"I wanted to make Top 10," she said. "I wanted to make summer tour, and I did. So I'm happy."
Nobilette often received criticism that she was emotionally distant throughout her American Idol run, almost as if she didn't want to be there.
That changed with her Save Me cover, though it proved to be too little and too late.
"I have to re-watch it," she said of performing "All of Me."
"I was sort of in a mood, so I don't know what it sounded like. I wasn't really there for it... I was there for it, but I wasn't there for it, so I don't know how it sounded. It felt good. I felt really good, so hopefully it sounded really good too."
It did, MK.
Harry Connick Jr. was the only judge to speak after Nobilette's ousting and she had nothing but positive things to say about this singer.
"I appreciate him," she said. "He's one of the realest musicians alive... he's the only one that's not afraid to tell you what's wrong and the one piece of advice that I'm always going to carry with me from American Idol was definitely when he said that I didn't want to be there.
"I'm always going to ask myself before I sing now, 'Do you want to be here?' So I have something to prove and something to show.
Do you think MK should have been voted out?
