Reportedly, Chris Martin's affair with Alexa Chung was one of the many causes of his split from Gwyneth Paltrow.
Chung and Martin are said to have carried on a secret affair for several months before his divorce, possibly with Paltrow's consent.
Now that Chris and Gwyneth are done "consciously uncoupling," however, Martin and Chung are free to date openly, and it seems that's just what they're doing.
Chris was in New York City to perform on SNL over the weekend. Alexa was also in town for the MET Gala, and according to witnesses, the formerly low-key couple were happy to get close with one another in public.
Several tweets from patrons of NYC hotspots indicated that Chris and Alexa were canoodling and very clearly dating in the days following their big events.
One tweet that's been picked up by various tabloids reads, "I just had drinks next to Chris Martin and Alexa Chung on a date and they talked about narwhals. That is all."
