The traditional eighth wedding anniversary gift is bronze, and it appeared for a time that Tori Spelling might like to gift Dean McDermott a bronze pipe to the skull.
Suffice it to say, the couple has been through a lot, but on their eighth anniversary Wednesday, they are still together as one. A united front ... for now.
Dean McDermott was aiming for something a little more original and more high-impact when it came to celebrating this milestone with wife Tori Spelling.
McDermott, who completed rehab after cheating on Tori Spelling with Emily Goodhand last year, gave his wife a vintage ring with multi-colored stones.
The hand-engraved, Renaissance-inspired ring is set in 18-carat gold with pear-shaped sapphires, square rubies and greenish yellow peridots.
Apparently the gesture helped thaw some of the chill between them.
"Dean seemed really excited," designer Neil Lane says. "He texted me and said Tori was thrilled, that she loved it. He said it was her favorite ring of all the years!"
Good to hear he was excited at something involving her for once.
On the duo's reality series True Tori, Dean basically told their therapist that she sucks at sex as he tried to explain why he strayed in Canada last winter.

Emily Goodhand has only been "interviewed" once and never photographed. The popular theory at the moment is that Tori and Dean lied about his affair.
The fact that the show - however awkward - is even on says a lot about her willingness to forgive, though, according to sources close to the actress.
"[By doing this show], Tori is showing Dean that she's willing to stay married," says a family insider. "But she's not going to make it easy for him."
Either the strife is all fake, or he's working hard at fixing it.
McDermott was spotted shopping at Victoria's Secret this week and Tori joined him for an intimate sushi dinner at Katsuya on Wednesday night.
Good photo ops if nothing else, are we right guts?!
"I don't think Tori truly wants to get divorced," the insider says, noting that no matter what, "She's doing whatever she thinks will help her get through this."
