Teen Mom 2 cast members Leah Messer-Calvert and Corey Simms have always put their personal drama and differences aside for the sake of their twin girls.
Watching the duo co-parent four-year-old Ali and Aleeah has been admirable, despite any flaws either one of them has. They clearly want the best for the kids.
Which makes this new report surfacing this week that much more surprising to us.
According to In Touch, Corey recently blindsided his ex-wife, who now has a third child by Jeremy Calvert, by threatening to file for full custody of their girls.
"A few months ago, Leah asked Corey for more money, and that really pissed him off," an alleged source close to the re-married reality star says.
Leah has financial help from her current husband, pipeline engineer Jeremy, and has admitted on Teen Mom 2 to spending money more than in the past.
Worse yet, he may try to leverage the fact that Leah Messer was addicted drugs.
"To get back at her, he asked for full custody of Ali and Aleeah," says the insider, "and used her recent prescription medication use as grounds as well."
Using that dark time in court would be a real low blow for Leah, and really out of character for Corey, who has also moved on and married Miranda Patterson.
"She couldn't believe that Corey would stoop so low, especially since he knows very well that she's a good mom," the source says. "She's sober now."
Will this actually come to fruition? Or is it just idle gossip conveniently thrown out there so it could fizzle out and fade away in time if nothing comes of it?
We'll have to watch Teen Mom 2 to find out.
