Don't Text and Drive. We've all heard this advice, and some of us take it seriously. Others don't, and as a result, are rolling the dice with their lives.
Or at least their buttocks.
Instead of Don't Text and Drive, maybe "You Could Have Giant Ass Pole Lodged in Yours if You Text and Drive" would be a more effective tagline.
Just ask Christina Jahnz.
The Colorado woman paid the price for texting and driving when she got into a car accident and landed in the hospital with a metal pole in her posterior.
Jahnz told her local news station that she had just left her daughter's middle school and was "running late for a business meeting." You can figure out the rest.
"I did a voice text. I looked down to make sure it was all right. The next thing I knew, I was looking up, there was white powder from the air bags deployed," she said.
Emergency personnel found Jahnz impaled by a piece of guardrail that went through the truck's headlight, then through her butt, her thigh and seat behind her.
She was only driving 20 m.p.h., which is fortunate, as firefighters were able to get her out alive and surgeons removed the pole without permanent damage.
Four days later she left the hospital with a temporary walker and she is expected to make a full recovery. If there's a bright side, it's that she learned her lesson.
"I'm truly a miracle. They said if it [had] gone just a little bit the other way I would have bled out," Jahnz said of the mistake that nearly killed her.
"It's devastating knowing that I could have prevented it to begin with. I just hope my story helps to save the lives of others. Don't text and drive."
And we thought these text message fails were bad ...
No, parents everywhere. LOL does not stand for "Lots of Love." Not at all.
