The dramatic transformation of Renee Zellweger's changing face has become a topic of endless fascination this week following the actress' reappearance.
Now we are pleased to report that finally, after days of waiting with breathless anticipation, we finally know how Heidi Montag feels about the whole situation.
The Hills cast member became one of the biggest advocates, and subsequent critics, of plastic surgery during her brief but notable time in the Hollywood spotlight.
Heidi, who famously underwent 10 plastic surgeries in one day, says she has strong "empathy" for anyone that feels so insecure that they have to do that.
Hey, she speaks from experience.
While the public has struggled to pinpoint exactly what changes Renee Zellweger has made to her face, the actress says it's all due to her healthier lifestyle.
Heidi Montag is not so sure.
"I don't know if Renee Zellweger just aged like she said," she told Extra. "For me, when I see people who look totally different, I have an empathy."
"I feel like I know why at least I did it, and it kind of brings it back to that time in my life. I hope it's the right decision for them and they feel good about it."
"That's the most important thing. But at the same time, my heart goes out to them," says the reality star, who is still married to Hills co-star Spencer Pratt.
"It's a hard decision, a life-changing decision," Heidi went on.
"When anyone does that," she mused, "then they're obviously unhappy or insecure with something. I just hope that they have found their happiness."
"You can't hide forever, so if you're a public figure, you have to come out eventually, and you just hope that you're feeling good and confident about it."
"Even if you were feeling confident about it, sometimes it makes you feel guilty about it or more judged when the whole world is talking so negative about you."
Heidi has a strained relationship with her mother, Darlene Egelhoff, and her sister, Holly Montag, over her turbulent marriage and her plastic surgery choices.
"You have family that makes it hard too sometimes - not only are you getting the criticism from the world. It's harder than ever, I feel like, to be in the public eye."
"You have to be tougher, you have to have a really thick skin. I think that's one of the reasons I went into hiding and just kind of bowed out ... it gets too intense."
As shock and speculation over her dramatically different looks consumed the web this week, Zellweger, 45, denied having plastic surgery, telling People:
"I'm glad folks think I look different! I'm living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I'm thrilled that perhaps it shows. My friends say that I look peaceful. I am healthy."
"For a long time I wasn't doing such a good job with that. I took on a schedule that is not realistically sustainable and didn't allow for taking care of myself."
"Rather than stopping to recalibrate, I kept running until I was depleted and made bad choices ... I was aware of the chaos and finally chose different things."
