Taylor Swift has been making the media rounds to promote her new album 1989 this week, and her interviews have contained some surprising revelations.
Earlier today, for example, we learned that Taylor hasn't dated anyone in 18 months.
Yes, she was once as famous for her love life as she was for her music, but these days, Taylor values time with her cats over the search for Mr. Right.
But even that news isn't as surprising as the deep, dark fears that Taylor revealed during a recent interview with Ellen DeGeneres.
For one thing, Taylor has a crippling fear of sea urchins. From the sound of it, she hates everything about the spiny ocean dwellers, and she thinks you should too:
"If you knew what sea urchins were, you would be terrified," Taylor tells the talk show audience. "They're like a grenade. They're sitting there waiting to completely injure you."
Fortunately, she lives in Manhattan these days and is unlikely to step on any sea urchins while strutting around the Upper East Side in a pair of heels.
However, Taylor's other main phobia could strike at any time:
"I'm scared of getting framed," Taylor says. "So many people would frame me. And they could frame you for any crime that you could go to jail for. Look at me, I wouldn't survive in jail!"
While Taylor's fear of a reverse Gone Girl may sound ridiculous and she's clearly half-joking, there's a real-world component to her paranoia:
"I think it comes from the fact that I could look at my phone and see any headline written about me at any time," Swift says. "And it could be the most ridiculous, untrue thing."
"So I think that's where the dream and the nightmare of being framed comes from...You take it a step further and in a nightmare world, it's being framed for murder."
Earlier this week, Taylor talked about death threats from "fans," and her need for round-the-clock security, so while she jests about losing her freedom as a result of her fame, it's not hard to see how such a fear could take root.
Ever the optimist, of course, Ellen points out the upside to having millions of obsessed fans: "I think you would even have fans in prison and they would take care of you," Ellen says.
Very true. We're sure even in prison, Taylor would manage could skate through in charm.
