In the years since The Hills went off the air, former reality star Stephanie Pratt has struggled mightily to remain relevant.
The last few months have seen Stephanie posing topless for FHM and looking for love on Millionaire Matchmaker.
Despite her best efforts, however, Stephanie seems destined for the "Where are they now?" file, which makes the surprising revelations in her new memoir that much sadder:
In the book, entitled Made in Reality, Pratt admits to struggling with addictions to cocaine and crystal meth throughout much of her adolescence:
"I was 14 or 15 [when I first smoked it]," she writes in her book," Pratt writes. "I was on the extreme level and addiction developed instantly. [I smoked] probably four times before school, then at snack... probably 12 or 13 times a day."
Pratt says she started using cocaine shortly thereafter, explaining that it made her feel "rebellious and grownup."
"I didn't care about anything. I could live or die, I didn't care," she says. "I had nothing to get out of bed for, nothing was exciting."
Stephanie says her severe drug abuse was at least partially motivated by a need for attention.
Sadly, she writes that her problem was almost entirely ignored by her parents, even when she was arrested for stealing to support her habit when she was 20.
"I woke up handcuffed to a hospital bed. When I landed back in L.A., Mom took me back home and I went upstairs to my old bedroom and I felt so much shame," she recalls.
Pratt says she also suffered from bulimia during the years that The Hills was on, often surviving only on Tic-Tacs.
Fortunately, Stephanie explains that with rehab and therapy she was able to leave most of her demons in the past.
