Suffice it to say, Sean Lowe's reaction to The Bachelorette's big twist this week was not positive. In fact, the former star of The Bachelor calls it "disgusting."
If you haven't heard, two Bachelor beauties, Britt Nilsson and Kaitlyn Bristowe, will star on the ABC franchise this summer, at least in the early going.
Only one will remain The Bachelorette, however, once the 25 men who meet them choose which they would like to pursue for the duration of the season.
Lowe, one of only two Bachelor stars to marry the girl he chose on the show (Jason Mesnick being the other, technicality aside), is not a big fan of this.
"As much as I love the guys over there," he wrote on his website, "I feel like I need to speak out about the development revealed last night by Chris Harrison."
"In the next season of The Bachelorette, there will be a change. Instead of having one Bachelorette," Sean explains to fans, "there will be two women.
"The looks on the faces of the women in the audience, the uncomfortable banter between the two 'lucky ladies,' and the tweets sent to me afterward tell the story."
"No one likes the idea. Catherine thinks it's disgusting."
Lowe and Catherine Giudici, his wife, apparently feel that far more harm than good is likely to result from The Bachelorette: Hunger Games Edition.
Kaitlyn Bristowe will be The Bachelorette for 2015, and it's not hard to see why she got so far on Chris Soules' season, or picked for the starring role.
"And get this - on the first episode. The producers will give the guys the chance to choose which woman they would like to have as The Bachelorette."
"The other woman will be sent home on the first night."
"The first night only allows for very brief conversations ... it's hard to get to know anyone. Basically, the guys will be left to choose based on looks for the most part."
"[Catherine] made a good point. One of these poor girls is going to suffer the very same rejection she suffered the first go around," Lowe laments.
Sean's point remains valid, but it's not clear if he's correct on the facts regarding the first night and whether that will be all she wrote for Britt or Kaitlyn.
It's not clear how the process will work, or when one of the girls will go home, if at all. All we know is that one woman will be giving out the final rose at the end.
It's still very much a work in progress, according to insiders, as this was decided not long before The Bachelor season finale when it was unveiled.
Was this a hasty, knee-jerk decision meant to keep viewers on their toes in light of The Bachelor spoilers that seem to leak out every single season?
Britt Nilsson will be The Bachelorette in 2015! She will at least start out that way, along with Kaitlyn Bristowe, and the 25 guys will choose who to pursue.
Very possible, and it certainly will get people talking. But to Sean, it just rubs him the wrong way. He even cites International Women's Day in his post.
"Catherine also pointed out that March 8th was the United Nation's National Women's Day," Lowe wrote, "which was 'a time to reflect on progress made."
"This year's theme was about empowering women. Then, on the very next day, we have this? I know this show is already awkward and degrading."
"Especially if it's not handled well by the main star," Lowe continued. "I also realize that this is 'just another reality TV show.' But, in a way, it's not."
"The Bachelor and The Bachelorette still have a certain credibility. Why? People watch it because they hope to see people find true love. I'm proof. It happens."
Do you agree with Sean Lowe about the new twist? Is it really as bad as he makes it sound, or just par for the course for a reality show these days?
