Shame on You: Women React to Senate Rejection of Gun Bill >>Hollywood

Not long after the Senate rejected a bipartisan proposal for expanded background checks on gun sales yesterday, two women shouted "Shame on you!" from the Chamber floor.

Both women have ties to recent shootings and both were escorted from the Capital after Vice President Joe Biden called for order.

One of the critics - Patricia Maisch (pictured), who actually took the gun magazine from the hands of the man who shot Gabby Giffords and many others - explained to the press why she reacted in such a manner.

And she held nothing back:

"Because they are an embarrassment to this country that they don't' have any compassion or care for people who have been taken brutally from their families," she said.

The other woman was Lori Haas, a Virginia resident whose daughter was shot (but survived) during the Virginia Tech attack of 2007.

"We are sick and tired of the death in this country and these legislators stand up there and think it's a bunch of numbers," Haas said. "There's been 187,000 Americans killed since Virginia Tech. My daughter was shot and injured six years ago yesterday. It's a shame, it's appalling, it's disgusting."
