For her latest movie role, Emma Watson says she took inspiration from Kim Kardashian and company.
But she doesn't mean that as a compliment.
In The Bling Ring, the former Harry Potter actress stars as a teenager who gets caught up in a string of robberies because she's obsessed with fame.
And speaking to reporters in Cannes this week, she said she did her best to "understand the psychology" of someone such as that as much as possible. How?
"I watched a lot of Keeping up with the Kardashians and The Hills," she said.
The film is based on true events, as young women broke into the homes of stars such as Paris Hilton a couple years ago.
Of her character, Watson added:
"I didn't want her to be just a parody. The accent was hard as it was a particular kind of dialect. I also thought a lot about what her parents must have been like."
