Kendrick Lamar made major headlines yesterday when he challenged rap rivals in a verse from the song "Control."
The artist went after such big names as Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky and Drake, saying he's on a mission to "murder" them all. He also totally destroyed Lindsay Lohan.
And while many in the hip hop world have replied to the scandalous diss - see Diddy's hilarious take on who is the real "King of New York" - at least one individual has surprised many by chiming in on the controversy:
Phil Jackson.
Yes, the 11-time World Champion coach is actually name-checked by Lamar, as the rapper goes off in one verse:
"Who the f**k y'all thought it's supposed to be?/If Phil Jackson came back, still no coachin' me/I'm uncoachable, I'm unsociable."
But Jackson, who has gotten such stars as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant to buy in to the concept of teamwork, believes Lamar is off base. He Tweeted today in response:
"@kendricklamar it's okay to be cocky and sure, but we all need somebody to lean on. Let's just call it mentoring."
Does anyone really want to take issue with a guy known as the Zen Master?
