Paul Rudd has something to be happy about this week aside from mostly positive Anchorman 2 reviews.
The beloved actor has been cast by Marvel as Ant-Man!
The superhero-based blockbuster will be released on July 31, 2015 and directed by Edgar Wright. It will focus on a character's discovery of a size-altering formula and his subsequent ability to control insects.
"When Edgar Wright came to us with the idea of Paul Rudd, we felt a huge sense of relief because the first step in creating any Marvel Studios film is finding the right star," Marvel studio head Kevin Feige said in a statement.
He added:
"We knew early on that we had found the right person in Paul. When he not only agreed to do it but became as enthusiastic as any actor we'd ever met with about doing the work, we knew we'd found the right guy. We couldn't be more excited for our audiences to see what he's going to do to bring Ant-Man to life."
Other Marvel movies scheduled for the next two years include:
- Captain America: The Winter Soldier, due out April 4, 2014.
- Guardians of the Galaxy, set for August 1, 2014.
- Avengers: Age of Ultron, scheduled for a May 1, 2015.
