Goodbye, Newman? Not so fast.
Wayne Knight is not dead. The actor is very much alive and well despite an elaborate online death hoax that falsely reported his demise this weekend.
The actor best known for his portrayal of Newman on Seinfeld takes over for Pawn Stars' Chumlee as the latest victim of bogus Internet death reports.
"Some of you will be glad to hear this, others strangely disappointed, but ... I am alive and well!" Knight tweeted and reassured fans Sunday morning.
The 58-year-old amusingly added, "Does someone have to DIE to trend? Geez!"
"Thanks for all the love everybody. Didn't know you cared. Glad to be breathing!"
This comes on the heels of several fake celebrity news sites, including a faux TMZ and Us Weekly plus eBuzzd, reporting he died in a car crash with a tractor trailer.
The sites reported that Knight died of blunt force trauma and two others were critically injured late Saturday along Route 446 near the Pennsylvania-New York border.
These hoaxes are certainly detailed ... and people need to get new hobbies.
Bottom line, we're glad Knight is okay, still has his trademark sense of humor and Newman will live to make us laugh/cringe at Seinfeld quotes another day.

1. Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne has been the subject of more than one death hoax over the years ... and more than one actual near-death experience. So it's believalble.
2. Sharkeisha
Sharkeisha was killed off by an Internet hoax, not long after she nearly killed a classmate with this insane sucker punch.
10. Vanilla Ice
Vanilla Ice is the perfect candidate for such a hoax, but he's actually in a pretty good place lately.
13. Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods killed his career for a time in 2009, but rest assured, he is physically alive.
14. Spencer Pratt
Some of you may be strangely let down by the fact that Spencer Pratt death rumors were fake.
