Andrej Pejic would now like to be known as Andreja Pejic.
In a statement via The Huffington Post, GLAAD said the model - who has walked runways as a man and as a woman - "will only be modeling women's clothing going forward and has received support from her agency, friends and family."
Pejic been featured on the covers of Elle and French Vogue, among other publications, and released a statement of her own on the major change.
"To all trans youth out there, I would like to say respect yourself and be proud of who you are. All human beings deserve equal treatment no matter their gender identity or sexuality. To be perceived as what you say you are is a basic human right."
Pejic also told Style.com that she figured out at the age of 13 that she was different, that a "transition" was something she would one day embrace.
The model has replaced the "j" at the end of her first name with an "a," noting that this is "not a full transformation - it's just an evolution."
Pejic (who joins transgender models such as Carmen Carrera, Geena Rocero and Isis) also left a message of gratitude for fans on Facebook.
In part, it reads:
