The cover art for Nicki Minaj's new single has already overshadowed the song itself in a major way.
In fact, "Anaconda" may go on to become Nicki's biggest hit, simply by virtue of the fact that people can't stop staring at the promotional photo.
In case you haven't seen it, the shot features Nicki with her back to the camera, her famous backside ruthlessly devouring an innocent g-string.
The photo is pretty amazing on its own, but since we're fortunate enough to live in the Internet age, some intrepid Photoshop aficionados have taken up the task of improving upon it:
There's Nicki as the Google logo, Nicki as Spider-Man, Nicki covered up for Drake's sake...it's all good and it all makes us grateful for the Internet, as well as for Nicki's thong-busting butt.
The photo has generated controversy online, with many claiming it's inappropriate for promotional material, but Nicki countered the argument by tweeting pictures like the cover of the latest Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
Her point was that there are many cases in which photos of equally exposed women didn't spark any sort of outrage, simply because they bear less resemblance to a Sir Mix-a-Lot fever dream.
This isn't the first time that the cover art for one of Minaj's singles has generated controversy.
Back in February Nicki released "Lookin Ass N-gga," the cover of which featured an image of Malcolm X holding an assault rifle.
We personally hope Nicki continues pushing the envelope with her cover artwork. In a way, her battle for ass equality and her successful effort to expose the underlying racism surrounding the "Anaconda" controversy has made her a rights crusader in her own time.
