Ever since they went public with the news that Kate Middleton is pregnant with her second baby, the royal family has cautioned that the Duchess may not be making many public appearances during for next several months, as doctors anticipated complications.
Kate suffered from severe morning sickness during her first pregnancy, and now it looks as though the condition has returned and possibly worsened.
Yesterday, Kate was scheduled to attend the opening of a new art studio at a London primary school, but she was forced to cancel at the last minute due to the sudden onset of symptoms from hyperemesis gravidarum.
Responding to rumors that the illness is worse than it was during Kate's first pregnancy, a spokesperson for the royal family issued a statement saying that the sickness is "similar in severity to last time."
British tabloids are running reports featuring quotes from "insiders" who claim that Kate is "profoundly unwell," but more credible sources insist that the Duchess will simply have to spend much of the pregnancy in bed.
There is no word yet on whether any other engagements will be canceled, and Kate is said to be resting at Kensington Palace in London.
Will and Kate have relocated to Norfolk, where they now claim Anmer Hall as their primary residence. Kate will reportedly head for the couple's new home in the country as soon as she is well enough.
