The nemesis on The Flash Season 1 Episode 3 was a real gas.
Get it?!? Okay, you will after reading our recap...
Easily the best bad guy on the series to date, Barry battled with a death row inmate who can transform into toxic gas this week. However, this villain was also nice and intimidating and full of personality in his regular form.
Through this storyline, what happened to Caitlin's fiance (and S.T.A.R. Labs engineer), Ronnie:
On the evening of the explosion, he went inside the belly of the malfunctioning beast to make sure its blast would travel upward, as opposed laterally.
But in making this adjustment, Ronnie basically committed suicide by accident, while all Cisco could do was watch beyond the door of the sealed chamber.
Danielle Panabaker rose to the emotional occasion while telling this story.
We know Amell (along with Victor Garber) will return later on The Flash Season 1 as one half of the evil duo Firestorm, giving us plenty to ponder until then. To wit:
Did Cisco witness more of Ronnie's tragic death? Where was he headed when he saw this take place?
Elsewhere, Joe paid a very overdue visit to Barry's imprisoned father. He went there to acknowledge that he had been mistaken for a long time. However, what's important, Henry Allen replied, is that Joe always believed in Barry.
Very nice moment between these two.
Also in an action-packed, busy hour, Iris confessed to her dad about her romance with and Detective Eddie Thawne… only to be reminded of just how good Joe's detective skills are. As if you could hide anything from this man!
We conclude with the night's most important reveal: Dr. Harrison Wells - while admiring Barry's stowed supersuit - flashed back to the particle accelerator's malfunction.
He watched this take place from his secret room via surveillance camera footage and he remarked at the time: "The bolt of lightning chose you."
This was no accident at all, was it?
