Tragedy has struck Charleston, South Carolina.
On Wednesday night, a gunman opened fire inside Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, killing nine people attending bible study there.
Charleston Police Chief Gregory Mullen has described the act as a "hate crime," with multiple outlets describing the victim as a white man between the ages of 21 and 25.
He has now been identified as Dylann Roof.

"This is a tragedy that no community should have to experience. It is senseless," said Mullen, Charleston's Police Chief. "It is unfathomable that somebody in today's society would walk into a church, when people are having a prayer meeting, and take their lives."
