Bobbi Kristina Brown will be taken out of her medically induced coma, according to reports, but the 21-year-old's medical future remains very much unclear.
In the weeks since Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive in her bathtub, she has been kept in a medically induced coma as her family keeps vigil.
Any signs of recovery have been fleeting, at best.
"There will be a sign of hope, and then nothing," says a family source to People. "Every day, we wonder if this will be the day that we get good news."
Doctors hope to find some answers soon. To wit, they have decided to wean Bobbi Kristina Brown off the medication that has kept her in the coma.
What will happen when they do? No one knows.
"We're all hoping and praying that this will give us some answers," says the family source, who adds that Bobbi Kristina's condition remains "severe."
Her doctors haven't spoken to the press, but if they're taking her out of a coma, it's not necessarily because the underlying problem has improved.
Just as likely is the possibility that it has not, even with the passage of time, and they want to see what the ailing patient's body is able to do for itself.
Bobbi Kristina and Nick Gordon were married, but reportedly estranged at the time of her tragic hospitalization. We hope she is able to beat the odds and recover.
"Obviously, she did not meet the criteria for brain death if she underwent a tracheotomy," one doctor says. "She still could have a devastating injury, though."
For now, Bobbi Kristina remains on life support, despite recurring reports that the family will let her go. Bobby Brown, her father, is holding out hope.
"We're hoping for a significant change soon," says the family member, even though they're also realistic and "we know that it may not change anything."
While awaiting new developments in her condition, the family is trying to ignore the drama with between Bobby and Bobbi Kristina's longtime boyfriend.
Gordon and Bobby Brown have been going at it in the media, with the latter accusing the former of not cooperating with the police or telling him what happened.
The family (with the exception of Bobby, although he's obviously had a few things to say about his daughter's partner) is trying to stay out of it, saying:
"We are leaving the investigation in the hands of the authorities. Our focus has always been Bobbi Kristina's health and recovery. That's all that matters to us."
Bobbi Kristina Brown and Whitney Houston together, before the former passed away in 2012. We wish their family members the best in this difficult, tragic time.
Whitney Houston used to be a major star. She may have had the best voice on the planet. These days? She's a sad, seemingly unhealthy version of herself.
Let there be no doubt: this is the best rendition of The Star Spangled Banner in the history of professional sports. Take in Whitney Houston's masterpiece now.
The night before she passed away, Whitney Houston went out with friends in Los Angeles. This, therefore, will forever be known as her final singing performance.
