Miles Teller is the 28-year-old actor who first made a name for himself in Whiplash and the Divergent series and now stars in the latest Fantastic Four reboot, which hits theaters this weekend.
Unfortunately, he's also a dick.
Or at least that's the claim being made by the writer who interviewed Miles for the current issue of Esquire.
You see, Miles is often named as one of the biggest douches in Hollywood (He's famously mocked the careers of John Cusack and his Oscar-winning Whiplash co-star J.K. Simmons.), and the interviewer decided to explore this reputation rather than ignoring it.
It turns out he didn't have to do much probing, as Teller kicks off the interview by telling a waitress that a cocktail glass resembles his penis. Things get worse from there:
On How Good-Looking He Is: "I was thinking about that today, how I probably think I'm better-looking than the public thinks I am...that's kind of what it is. Maybe it's because I came from a small town, but I always did well for myself."
On Making Other People Cut His Food: "You have to cut his meat for him," the interviewer writes, "a man who ten minutes earlier showed you an iPhone photo of his back muscles to prove how strong he is. He wants you to cut it small...'What are you bullying me now? I didn't know they fucking put marble on top of their pork belly.'"
On How He's Hit "the Sweet Spot": "It's hard to get to the right position, to be somebody who is commercially successful and critically acclaimed. That's the sweet spot."
There's more, such as Teller's weird explanation for why he doesn't have any friends from college, how he responds to being fired by the director who helped make him famous ("What the f--k, bro?"), his story about writing to Kobe Bryant because they're both "striving for greatness," and his habit of calling Joaquin Phoenix "Joaq," even though they've never met.
Basically, it's not all that surprising that Teller is referred to as a "dick" repeatedly in the interview. It's also not surprising that he had a rather dickish response to that assessment:
"@esquire couldn't be more wrong," Teller tweeted yesterday. "I don't think there's anything cool or entertaining about being a dick or an asshole. Very misrepresenting."
We don't know about that, Miles. Kinda sounds like they hit the nail on the head.
