Bea Arthur Nude Painting: Would You Buy (or Hit) It? May 15th 2013, 17:09 If you're a regular THG visitor, you expect scandalous, very frequent and occasionally unclothed news regarding Kim Kardashian, Jenelle Evans, etc. Bea Arthur nude? We're gonna guess not on your radar. Still, variety is the spice of life, and here we are discussing that very topic, thanks to artist John Currin, who painted this portrait of the star in 1991. Then 69, Bea (1922-2009) didn't model for this portrait. The New Yorker refers to it as part of a series by Currin featuring "acrid fantasy portraits of menopausal women." Gawker calls it "quite beautiful." The work is up for auction today and is expected to go for between $1.8-2.5 million.
