Sorry, plain and boring Barbie. Your days of ruling the toy world are apparently over.
Mattel announced yesterday that its second quarter net income dropped by 24 percent and it shares by nearly seven percent, with most of the blame directed at poor sales for Barbie.
The numbers for that iconic figure have dropped in four consecutive quarters.
However, Monster High dolls - which have been dubbed "Goth Barbie" and which are based on teen characters whose parents are well-known monsters - have been a major coup for the company.
They were introduced in 2010 and sales have sky-rocketed to $500 million for that line in just three years.
