When doctors told Texas resident Morrissia Sauer she only had a few more months to live, she created a bucket list of items to check off before she died.
Her #1 request? Getting married at a church.
Sauer, who's currently receiving care from Silverado Hospice in Texas, has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure, local station KHOU reports.
Sauer and her husband Johnny were married eight years ago by a justice of the peace, but Sauer, a devout Catholic, always wanted a traditional ceremony.
In order to have her marriage recognized by the church, she wanted to get married in one. Local businesses rallied together to make Sauer's dream a reality.
As fate would have it, Houston's Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, which generally has a year-and-a-half wait list, happened to have December 14 open.
A local photographer, florist, hairstylist, baker and photographer all volunteered their time to put on the wedding. Silverado Hospice staff handled the set-up.
"This is a lot more than I anticipated," said Sauer's husband. "I just thought we were going to have a simple little ceremony and it kind of snowballed on us."
"And I'm very appreciate and grateful."
On the big day, Sauer was beside herself. The ailing bride told the news station, "It's everything I've been waiting on and I'm just happy it's here."
