The Bachelor's Juan Pablo is featured on the new cover of People in an apparent bid to rebuild a reputation that was nothing short of massacred this winter.
Despite the uber-romantic setting and having an engagement ring at the ready, Juan Pablo did not propose to Nikki Ferrell on the Season 18 finale Monday.
The backlash came on strong, and not just for the weak non-proposal. His comments and behavior turned off fans throughout the episode, and season.
Juan Pablo tells the celebrity news magazine that he's not the bad guy here, despite what you may have seen ... from his actual comments and actions.
He said, "You go on thinking if there is the connection, you propose. But I don't feel the need to propose to somebody if I don't feel one hundred percent."
"I didn't know Nikki. I want to know more, a lot more."
No one can argue with that on merit. Including Nik.
"Had he gotten down on one knee, I absolutely would have said yes," Ferrell admits, but "having a ring on my finger wouldn't stop us from breaking up."
"What's going to keep us together is having a real relationship," she adds in a candid, valid point. "I'd rather have him propose when he feels it's right."
Fair enough, but what about ... all the rest?!
Viewers saw Juan Pablo say he loves f--king Clare Crawley, who left the show in disgust, along with fellow top six members Andi Dorfman and Sharleen Joynt.
"It's hard because viewers saw a character on TV. A lot of things about me were not shown. I'm not a bad guy. People who know me, know who I am," he says.
That's debatable to many viewers of the show.
What's not in doubt, however, is that he's ready to move on. "It's our start now. We can get to know each other fully. We're not in a rush," Galavis says.
And with that, we can only wonder ...
