It really is happening.
A big screen, live-action version of the 1980s cartoon Jem and the Holograms will soon arrive in a theater near you, and the production took a rather big step closer to becoming a reality this week:
It announced the four main cast members!
With director Jon M. Chu at the helm, the film will follow an orphaned teenage girl who becomes an Internet recording sensation and embarks on a music-based scavenger hunt.

1. Aubrey Peeples as Jem
Aubrey Peeples has landed the lead role in Jem and the Holograms. You likely know her best from ABC's Nashville. Yes, she can sing.

2. Stefanie Scott as Kimber
Stefanie Scott will play Jem's sister, Kimber. The character plays the keyboard and Scott starred on Disney Channel's "A.N.T. Farm."

3. Hayley Kiyoko as Aja
Hayley Kiyoko is another Disney alum. She can currently be seen on ABC Family's The Foster and will take on Aja.

4. Aurora Perrineau as Shana
Aurora Perrineau is the daughter of Lost star Harold Perrineau. She appeared in the movie "A House Is Not a Home."
No release date for Jem and the Holograms has been announced.
But Chu did release the following poster as a major tease for fans of the original series. We can't wait!
