ESPN host Michelle Beadle went to the junior prom of 16-year-old paralyzed hockey player Jack Jablonski over the weekend, according to reports.
Since being paralyzed during a high school hockey game in 2011, Jablonski has had many highs and lows. This would certainly be among the former.
"Jack has been a fan and he worked up the nerve to ask her out during an interview a few weeks ago," a source said. "She said yes and made the trip."
Said Michelle Beadle of the invitation on Twitter:
"I'm happy that the school actually allowed me because I know they're very... they've got some very good rules here. And so it'll be fun. I get to go on a school bus."
"It's going to make me young again! I'm a 38 year old getting ready for prom. My hair will be slightly smaller and my bum slightly bigger. And I'm also nervous. What?!?!"
"Thanks to Benilde-St. Margaret's for an awesome prom!" Beadle wrote after the event, adding amusingly, "And to Mrs. Anderson for my 1st breathalyzer."
She also posted a photo with Jablonski and his friends (above).
According to The Minneapolis Star Tribune's Jeremy Olson and David La Vaque, Jablonski's spinal cord was severed and was "irreparable with surgery."
Nonetheless, the unfortunate incident opened up a new door for the 16-year-old as he is now a local radio sports show host, according to news reports.
The Benilde-St. Margaret's School junior has assumed the role of co-host on Hockey Night in Minnesota, a radio talk show on FM's 105 the Ticket.
Jack Jablonski's job includes interviewing athletes, journalists and other industry professionals ... and occasionally gushing on air about Michelle Beadle.
