Squirrels are unlike dogs. They aren't man's best friend.
Brian Genest, a 17-year old from Maine, learned this the hard way over the weekend when he was strolling through John Chestnut Park near Tampa, Florida.
On a college scouting trip in the area, Genest stopped and snapped a selfie of himself and a squirrel, initially posing happily with the wild animal, as you can see here:
But it didn't take long for the squirrel to get freaked by flash and the noises from the camera and jump all over Genest's back.
Fortunately, his mother was around to take this second hilarious snapshot:
He was just in that spot where my arm can't reach him," Genest told MSN. "I threw myself on the ground and that scared him off."
The incident took place last Saturday and Genest's mom thinks her son "got a little lesson from the squirrel that he's not really its buddy."
It's true. By now, we all should know that squirrels love to photobomb, not to take selfies with random teenagers in the woods.
