She may have banked seven figures from starring in a pre-planned movie produced by a porn company, but Farrah Abraham insists she is NOT a porn star.
She's okay if you call her a sex symbol, though. So there's that ... but she really wants to be known by a different title altogether these days: Author.
Farrah, whose erotic novel Celebrity Sex Tape: In the Making comes out this summer, says she is not looking to any other writer for inspiration.
No, not even Jenna Jameson, the famed porn-star-turned-best-selling-author.
"I have not read her work. I try not to read so many other different books talking about sex and fantasies and those things," Abraham tells Fox News.
"I'm trying to do something in my own way. I'm staying true to myself."
"I really enjoy at this time of my life writing about sex. I think it's because I'm 22, and kind of single. What better to express yourself in a positive way than writing."
Sure. Makes total sense.
The last way Abraham chose to express herself, by having sex on camera with porn star James Deen, earned the single mom intense criticism.
Despite being a porn star by definition (see NSFW gallery!), however, she insists she is not one. How does the Backdoor and More star reconcile that?
"I have friends who are in the adult entertainment industry, and that is something that they make their full income off of. That is what they dedicated their life to."
"And if that's your choice that's fine. Personally, making a sex tape, and that's all I've ever done, that's not being a porn star. I live a very different life."
"I can't help what the public perceives," she laments. Poor girl.
At the same time, "I think I'm ok with being a sex symbol."
"I think moving on in my future and in my career that is something that I am proud of at the same time I'm using it as a positive rather than a negative, which is hard to deal with at times."
