Usher has finally broken his silence regarding Justin Bieber and a pair of unfortunately leaked videos last week.
As the Internet knows by now, Bieber was first caught on tape at age 14 telling a joke that used the N Word as a punchline.
Another piece of footage, recorded when Justin was 15, then surfaced of Bieber using this same slur while joking about the KKK.
The singer has issued multiple apologies since then, with many African-American friends (such as Floyd Mayweather and Lil Wayne) coming to the star's defense, chalking up the incidents to mistakes of one's youth.
And now Usher, the man responsible for turning Bieber into a global sensation, has come out and done the same.
"At my core, I am a person that supports growth and understands without judgement, that growth often comes as a result of pain and continues effort," Usher wrote on Instagram Saturday, adding.
"As I have watched Justin Bieber navigate difficult waters as a young man, I can tell you that he hasn't always chosen the path of his greatest potential, but he is unequivocally not a racist."
Usher, of course, discovered Bieber on YouTube... signed him to a record deal... and the rest is adorable, often shirtless history.
Referencing the very old footage depicted in the aforementioned videos, Usher continued:
"What he was 5 years ago was a naive child who did not understand the negative power and degradation that comes from playing with racial slurs.
"What he is now is a young man faced with an opportunity to become his best self, an example to the millions of kids that follow him to not make the same mistakes."
And it does look like Justin is recognizing this responsibility.
Aside from his heartfelt apologies, Bieber was baptized in New York City last month. He truly is seeking a clean start.
