Iggy Azalea Slammed By Rah Digga as "Not Real" Hip Hop, Fires Back on Twitter >>Hollywood

Former Flipmode Squad member Rah Digga is the latest hip hop figure to attack Iggy Azalea, but the "Fancy" rapper is brushing her off ... mostly.

"Iggy Azalea, I can't really get into her. Because it's just not real to me," Digga told This Is 50. "There is a white girl from Australia that spits in an Australian accent."

"Her name is Chelsea Jane. That I can get into. Teach me Australian Hip-Hop culture. Don't come to America and try to convince me that you're Gangsta Boo."

"We're not going to believe you if you're trying to convince us."

She then went on to echo a familiar critique of Iggy Azalea:

"That's the problem. They're too many passes being given. When did it become wrong to call out people that don't write their own rhymes? When did that become a crime?"

She added that hip hop began to "empower inner city youth" and that it's fine if white people participate, "but don't ever forget what it was created for in the first place."

So what did Iggy have to say about all of this? A decent amount ...

Her Stage Name Has History
She took the name "Iggy Azalea" from her childhood dog and the street she grew up on.

She responded to Rah Digga's diss on Twitter with a barrage of messages, half denying that she cares and half implying that she does, for one reason:

Other women calling her out. Not a fan. I-G-G-Y writes:

  • "I honestly don't really mind if I'm described as rap or pop. My passion is purely making music and entertaining."
  • "its definetly funny seeing ppl get so emotional over it all. What does it matter? music is music and many enjoy mine, no need to feel upset."
  • "end of the day i have a massive publishing deal based on the fact i write and collect checks which everyone seems to ignore."
  • "every female rapper gets accused of not writing, and thats fine i just find it disappointing to see it come from other women."
  • "especially ones who don't know me or anyone around me, its actually sad. crabs in a bucket syndrome."

Well? Is she really the genre-less star she wants to be? Is racism alive and well when it comes to her critics? What would Jefe Wine say about this? Discuss ...
